Rouge Allure lipstick from Chanel
Vivid, durable and ever so stylishly packaged this may well have been one of the best presents I have ever received.
As you can expect, it's every bit as high quality as its predecessors and has a wonderful 'click' motion when you pop it out of its case [that really is half the fun]. Sleek and simple, it's an instant classic. Not to mention being virtually impossible to open by accident, so it's never going to wreck the inside of your favourite bags.
Application is smooth and surprisingly light for such a strong shade, leaving you with an even coat from which to build up the colour to your desired intensity. The trick with this product really is in the layering, as although it retains its brightness throughout the day, you really do want to play it safe; nothing looks worse than fading lipstick. Apply and blot 3x for maximum effect would be my advice. There are about 20 different shades in the 'Luminous Intense Lip Colour' range, with everything from deep plum to a dusty peach; though from experience, I've found the darker the colour the better, as some of their lighter shades can verge on being offensively bright if you have paler skin. Still, if neon pink is your thing, then go for it!
One of few faults I've found with this lipstick is that if anything, it's a little too long wearing. While it's great to be able to slick on some lippy and forget about it for the rest of the day, if you smudge this stuff there's virtually no getting it off. A steady hand and face wipes are essential when you're putting it on; take your time and it'll pay off. Chanel also do a great range of lip liners, so if you really want that precise finish, check them out and you'll find a colour that suits your lipstick shade perfectly.
